So you have decided to join a direct sales/party plan company. Great! Now what? Your starter kit is on the way and your excited about your new venture.
Often consultants starting out become discouraged easily from the getgo if their new business is not going the way they planned. They stop working at it, and lose track of why they started their business in the first place. If there is one thing I have learned, you can’t get to where your going without a plan or goal. Do you want a hobby…. or a real business?
The Bare Basics
1. With pen and paper in hand write down a few simple goals. Are you looking to earn extra money to use towards a monthly bill, or do you need to earn more for something bigger? Do you like the thought of a trip paid for or other prizes?
2. A must is a calender and is often overlooked. Write down the days you want to work. Pencil in family and other engagements for the month. You need direction and you need to be smart!
3. Make it a point to be on weekly training calls. Mark that time just for you away from distractions. Many companies offer free trainings to get you started in the right direction.
4. Share….Share…and Get Out There! People are not going to come knocking on your door while your watching The Price Is Right or American Idol and want to schedule a party or make a purchase!
5. Stay connected to your upline. As much as it is the responsibility of a consultant to keep in contact with his/her downline, the same applies to responding to your sponsor. Whether it is an email, phone call, or a text, your sponsor won’t know if your having problems. When your upline touches base with you be sure to respond.
- Be Consistent Weekly – work on your business a little at a time.
- Make lists and break them down into small bites.
- Prioritize so you do not do things that will not help your business or your goals.
- Time Management – work in blocks of time even if that means setting a timer.
- Do Not Expect Results From Excuses!
- Have Fun!
As you pursue your business it becomes easier to develop these good habits and stay the course! We all know “life happens” and outside distractions can easily take away our time from working our business. I look forward to sharing more tips with you in the near future!
