Here we are at mid February…do you have the winter blues? Are you stressed with tax time? It seems after Valentine’s Day I have a hard time getting through the days and yes long nights as we all wait to spring forward with the clocks. One way to beat the blues is aromatherapy. There is something to be said for the power of scent whether it is a lotion, candle, or room diffuser. Sometimes a little pick me up in the afternoon is all you need for a lift! I am sitting here with the new spring scent from Jordan Essentials Bath and Body that will officially make a debut this Saturday February 18th. I wasn’t sure if I would like it since lemon is not at the top of my list and it usually makes me think of a household cleaning product LOL! However after applying it, letting it set for 5-10 minutes it is actually very calming and gave me the boost I needed.
What is your favorite scent? Does it consist of a floral, fruity, or spa scent? Essential oils can be used to affect our moods as well as our emotional responses. Think of when you smell a certain food. Depending on if you like it or not your mouth may start watering, your digestive juices may start to flow, it affects your whole body. I feel this way just walking in Red Lobster or Applebees!
Fragrance does not need to be over the top. In other words if you are sensitive, have allergies, or have thoughts of a co-worker stepping off the elevator and you know they are there before stepping in the office, don’t let it turn you off. Look for products like body mists that contain no isopropyl alcohol or phthlates. You can layer throughout the day to give yourself a boost and reduce stress at the same time.
